Better Understanding
crystallised into a project in Autumn 2006 following a consultation by
an NHS Trust about the closure of an in-patient unit for mental health
service users.
During that consultation
I discovered I did not understand how the system is structured, funded,
where political policy and influence is within the system and how
decisions are made. It is not easy finding this information.
Whilst mooting Better
Understanding I've been told these are big issues, too big to deal with.
I agree, but that does not seem a good enough reason not to make a small
contribution to matters that affect the fabric of our society and the
wellbeing of all citizens.
The initial ideas for Better Understanding are:
i)
a creative writing project with current and former
service users and carers
ii)
clear communication pathways
The ocean is made up of drops of water. Maybe each
drop is insignificant,
but united, the character and potential change. |
