The format will be a short Scenario followed by Suggestions for solutions and Requests to help find solutions. Answers to some requests may come from the combined expertise of members of organisation like Lions or Rotary Clubs. Other may need to come from health/care authorities and be initiatives of staff. And perhaps the solution is already available it just needs wider publicity.

SCENARIO 1 A block of private residential flats; 95% of the residents are over 65; only a small minority have family within 100 miles and some have no family. Lack of health or social care of a resident is causing problems for other residents. Examples mentioned include wandering corridors at night ringing doorbells, used pads being left in corridors, changes in behaviour upsetting other residents. Residents wish to remain compassionate towards their sick neighbour but have difficulty contacting next-of-kin or getting health/social care authorities responsibly involved.
SUGGESTIONS FOR SOLUTIONS (i) A voluntary agreement amongst residents which residents can sign when they are well requesting their next-of-kin be contacted if fellow residents have concerns about their welfare. Those signing up provide contact information. (ii) Residents pool their experiences and concerns about the resident, thus giving a more comprehensive picture to health/social care authorities.
REQUESTS TO HELP FIND SOLUTIONS (a) A simple form of agreement for use by a group of neighbours or by individuals, and suggestions on how next-of-kin contact information can be held. (b) Information on how to make effective contact with health/social care authorities when there are concerns about a neighbour.
